Judging Criteria

Round 1: Selection of Finalists

A panel of judges will meticulously evaluate each submission based on the criteria outlined below and assign scores accordingly. The top 10 submissions in each category, determined by the judges' scores, will advance to the second round for further evaluation.

  1. Originality and Creativity: 10%

    This criterion assesses the uniqueness and innovative aspects of the submission. It rewards students for thinking outside the box and presenting creative solutions to the challenge.

  2. Relevance to Theme/Objective: 15%

    This criterion evaluates how well the submission addresses the core theme and objectives of the challenge. It ensures that students stay focused on the task at hand and effectively communicate their understanding of the challenge requirements.

  3. Complexity and Quality of Content: 15%

    This criterion measures the depth of analysis and complexity of the content presented in the submission. It assesses the thoroughness of the students' research and the quality of their ideas, designs, and strategies.

  4. Realism of the Construction (Scale, Technical Accuracy, and Buildings): 10%

    This criterion evaluates the realism and technical accuracy of the constructions within the Minecraft Education environment. It considers factors such as scale, attention to detail, and adherence to real-world engineering principles.

  5. Understanding of the Concepts and Basic Principles of the Challenge Theme: 5%

    This criterion assesses the students' comprehension of the fundamental concepts and principles related to the challenge theme. It gauges their ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical problem-solving within the Minecraft Education Platform context.

  6. Incorporation of UN SDGs in a Clear and Exceptionally Relevant Way: 5%

    This criterion evaluates how well the submission integrates the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its design and solutions. It assesses the clarity, relevance, and impact of incorporating SDGs into the overall plan.

Round 2: Selection of Winner

Finalists will be contacted and guided for the second round. In the second round, the top 10 submissions will advance to present their projects via a PPT/PDF presentation based on a provided template. Each finalist will have a 10-minute live presentation followed by a 2-minute Q&A session with the judges.

  1. Presentation and Q&A: 20%
    • Clarity of Presentation: Judges will assess the clarity and coherence of the finalist's presentation, including the organization of ideas, visual aids, and overall delivery.
    • Ability to Address Questions: Finalists' ability to effectively respond to questions from the judges during the Q&A session will be evaluated. This includes the depth of their answers and their ability to articulate key points.
    • Judges' Panel Review: Following each presentation, the judges will collectively review the finalist's presentation and responses to the Q&A session to determine their overall impression and score.
  2. Public Voting: 20%

    In parallel, the presentations will be made available to the public for viewing and voting for their favorite video submission.

Final scores will be calculated based on all of the above criteria to identify the top winner for each category.
